PRO INCORPORATION- the time is right for Castro Valley citizens to take responsibility and better control over local planning issues and our future role as a community.

ACTIVE IN THE CASTRO VALLEY SOCCER COMMUNITY for the last 10 years.
GRASS ROOTS CAMPAIGN of UNDER $1000 TOTAL.

I have the following goals for the City of Castro Valley in my first term of office:

Castro Valley Transition to City: I want to complete the successful transition of Castro Valley to a city- fiscally sound with all essential services intact.
Developing the Castro Valley Image: I want to get the involvement of all Castro Valleyans in the planning process and in developing a consensus for Castro Valley’s image going forward.
Redevelopment of the Castro Valley Blvd. Corridor: I plan to review and update, as needed, the CV Specific Plan and develop a CV General Plan looking at short term and long term issues. This would include redevelopment of the downtown Castro Valley Blvd. corridor from Strobridge to Crow Canyon Rd. We should review traffic patterns and the possible synchronization of traffic signals to relieve congestion in this area. I also propose median strip landscaping and architectural treatment for Castro Valley Blvd. projecting the CV image to revitalize this important corridor and attract people to businesses in the area.
Recreational Facilities for our Families and Youth: Finally, I plan to work with HARD, the Castro Valley School District and East Bay Regional Parks District to plan for additional parks, a skateboard park and other facilities that would enhance local recreational activities for our families and youth while staying within budget constraints through use of grants and other funding efforts.

I believe that we can make a great community a better city. I ask for your vote.

Biographical Info

I’ve been a Castro Valley homeowner since 1981. My wife, Niki Boon, has worked as a CV school teacher for the past 13 years and my children, Kristen & Jesse, have been born and raised here and have graduated from our schools.
I received undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Golden Gate University.
I’m a registered professional engineer in California and am currently a project development manager for a major Bay Area company. I have recently engaged in development work in Sacramento, San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Kansas City, Missouri.
I have 30 years experience in design, engineering, project development, and project management. Fields include critical energy, data centers, biotech utility facilities, power generation systems, aerospace facilities, and other industrial facilities. Professional experience includes work at Calpine, Bechtel, International Power Technology and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
I’ve coached soccer for 10 years with the CV Youth Soccer League and other local youth sports (CYO basketball and CV Little League), and was a member of the Soccer League Board of Directors and competitive coach selection committee.
I’ve been a member of the California Society of Professional Engineers for 16 years, serving as President of the Local Chapter, state director, and chairperson for programs and legislation.
